Apple Deletes All References to Consumer Reports Not Recommending iPhone 4 in Forums

I’m sure most of you have heard it by now — Consumer Reports officially stated that they “can’t recommend” the iPhone 4, due primarily to the problems with the antenna. Well, according to The Unofficial Apple Weblog, any thread in the Apple forums talking about the Consumer Reports article has been deleted by the moderators…and apparently, this has happened at least 6 times.
I suppose it’s Apple’s right to moderate their forums as they see fit, but this just seems ridiculous to me. Apple still hasn’t really acknowledged the problem, and it just doesn’t seem to me that the whole “bury your head in the sand policy” is going to when, since the problems with the antenna has been very well document.
Am I surprised that Apple is deleting these threads? Not really. They’ve never really been proponents of openness and frank discussion. I just don’t think this dictatorial approach is really going to work for them in the long run.
Steve Jobs thinks Google is trying to kill the iPhone, but I think he’s doing a good enough job of that, himself.
